Palm invented the modern handheld/smartphone category and dominated PDAs (e.g. Palm Pilot) in the late 90’s. But Palm underestimated how fast phones would become fully touch-based and app-centric. Palm OS was outdated so developers prioritized iOS and Android leading to significantly fewer apps.
