The Chicago Packers were an early NBA franchise that lasted only one season (1961-1962) before being renamed. The name “Packers” was already strongly associated with the Green Bay Packers. Chicago fans clearly didn’t connect with the name and it created confusion. The team finished with a losing record (18-62) and struggled to compete with established teams. After three name changes and relocations, the team eventually evolved into the Washington Wizards.
